Coming back from the dead for B2MeM
Mar. 5th, 2020 11:13 pmSeems this happens every year lol I disappear for months and reappear with fanart in March. But even if I'm busy (and starting my last year as a PhD student it's gonna get worse) or caught up in another fandom, Tolkien still has the #1 spot in my heart and I will make time to participate.
This year I will work less on each pic to get more done. That means they won't be the best I can do but I'll try my best (and this will be good practice too!). My original idea was to only work on four prompts from the generator before March, but life got in the way. So I'll be working on them and maybe post them at the end of the event, kind of like a grand finale (I'm hoping they'll be of better quality than the daily prompts).
So head's up, I will be posting more in one month than I did last year XD

Jul. 21st, 2019 09:11 pmI also want to take a moment to congratulate Himring on creating a character and a story that has stayed with me through all these years. I checked the review I left and I can't believe it's from 2010. Almost 10 years! And I still remember it. Well done, Himring!!

Notes: I used Frankish Merovingian as reference for Elrond's outfit and Ancient Greek for Celebrían's. Also I headcanon that 1) Celebrían is taller than Elrond and 2) Elrond does feel the cold more than full-blooded elves.

Tranquillo: Calmly, peacefully.
They are not sure if they would have done it had the children been … different. They think that they might have at least hesitated more.
As it is, the children’s uncanny stares and the disinterested look they had given to their fallen nurse and the blood that had splattered their clothes had made them very glad to leave them behind."

Mar. 30th, 2018 07:48 pmI have so many photos that would fit the prompt but unfortunately none that's also LOTR related. Most of them were taken in between locations, or during my first and lasts days in NZ. However I managed to find those little guys lurking in the back of this pic :D
B2MeM18 Day 6
Mar. 7th, 2018 02:57 amNew Zealand is a beautiful country, but every once in a while we got to a location that I loved so much it made me want to set camp to live there forever. Most of those locations were in the South Island... the nature there was wilder, I thought, compared to the North Island. This particular location was in Mavora Lakes, and it's used as part of the Anduin when the Fellowship leaves Lórien.
Who wouldn't want to stay there unto the ending of the world?

“And Elwing chose to be judged among the Firstborn Children of Ilúvatar, because of Lúthien; and for her sake Eärendil chose alike, though his heart was rather with the kindred of Men and the people of his father”

B2MeM18 Day 3
Mar. 4th, 2018 02:31 amThe Ainur aren't the only ones who can create something amazing...
We met Daniel Reeve, who did all the calligraphy and cartography we can see on the movies (and a lot things we never got to see). He gave us a presentation, and I can tell you, the amount of work he did for the movies is insane. He demonstrated his calligraphy skills and then it was comission time! What I had him write for me was the best thing I got from the trip. After the meeting was over it was the first and only time I called my mom lol I was so excited I needed to share it with someone, I didn't care it was almost 3am back home :P

The original draft for Bilbo's contract vs the end result. Peter Jackson wanted it to be longer and longer each time. It takes about a week to write one, if I remember correctly.

Writing on one of his paintings. You can see Bilbo's book there :O

The original Bilbo portrait !!!

Here he's working on my request. The open book over there was writen for the movie with parts of stories taken from the Silmarillion. It's open on the entry about Túrin Turambar, because I had told him how much I loved that story, among all of Tolkien's work, so he went and looked for that part. Not only is he super talented, he was also a really nice guy.
B2MeM18 Day 1
Mar. 1st, 2018 11:04 pmThe wind began to blow steadily out of the West and pour the water of the distant seas on the dark heads of the hills in fine drenching rain. (Fellowship of the Ring, “Flight to the Ford”)
B2MeM17 Step 10 - Winged Terror
Apr. 2nd, 2017 11:36 pmI was so close to finishing on time! But some real life drama got in the way.
Still, this is the first time Imanaged to complete all the prompts \o/
See you all next year!

He loosed upon his foes the last desperate assault that he had prepared, and out of the pits of Angband there issued the winged dragons, that had not before been seen; and so sudden and ruinous was the onset of that dreadful fleet that the host of the Valar was driven back
B2MeM17 Step 9 - Complementary
Mar. 25th, 2017 03:09 amthe Orange Path (Character Study or Ship Manifesto )
“The people of Hador were of great strength and stature, ready in mind, bold and steadfast, quick to anger and to laughter, mighty among the Children of Ilúvatar in the youth of Mankind. Yellow-haired they were for the most part, and blue-eyed”
“The Men of the House of Bëor were dark or brown of hair, with grey eyes; and of all Men they were most like to the Noldor and most loved by them; for they were eager of mind, cunning-handed, swift in understanding, long in memory, and they were moved sooner to pity than to laughter”
![[B2MeM17] Morwen&Húrin - Opposites.png [B2MeM17] Morwen&Húrin - Opposites.png](https://ic.pics.livejournal.com/alasse_mirimiel/31741844/56392/56392_600.png)
Húrin was fair of face and golden-haired, strong in body and fiery of mood. But the fire in him burned steadily, and he had great endurance of will. Morwen was dark-haired and tall, and for the light of her glance and the beauty of her face men called her Eledhwen, the Elven-fair; but she was somewhat stern of mood and proud. The sorrows of the House of Bëor saddened her heart.
