The sound of running and falling water was loud, and the evening was filled with a faint scent of trees and flowers, as if summer still lingered in Elrond's gardens. (Fellowship of the Ring, “Many Meetings”)

Arrow River, one of the locations used for the Ford of Bruinen scene (Black Rider's side of the river, the side with Arwen and Frodo was filmed at another location). We didn't have a guide here, and even though there was a map showing all the hiking tracks and the place where the scene was filmed, there was no mark on the location. Walking around, we got to the place that looked familiar to all of us.

Create a fanwork that includes an animal that lives in or near the water (fish, whale, seabird, or whatever you like)

I have so many photos that would fit the prompt but unfortunately none that's also LOTR related. Most of them were taken in between locations, or during my first and lasts days in NZ. However I managed to find those little guys lurking in the back of this pic :D

Duck and ducklings enjoying a swim in The Water

This was taking during my first time in Hobbiton (third day in NZ, second day of the tour, and the first location we visited). If anyone is about to go there, or is planning to, I defenitely recomend to do the Evening Tour. Seeing the sunset in Hobbiton is a magical experience, and with only two groups, there's a ton of opportinities to take photos without people in the background :) Then of course there's the Hobbit style banquet! Can't imagine a better first bonding experience as a fellowhip.

Then Aragorn took the crown and held it up and said:

Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien. Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn’ Ambar-metta!

And those were the words that Elendil spoke when he came up out of the Sea on the wings of the wind: ‘Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come. In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.’ (The Return of the King, “The Steward and the King”)

New Zealand is a beautiful country, but every once in a while we got to a location that I loved so much it made me want to set camp to live there forever. Most of those locations were in the South Island... the nature there was wilder, I thought, compared to the North Island. This particular location was in Mavora Lakes, and it's used as part of the Anduin when the Fellowship leaves Lórien.

Who wouldn't want to stay there unto the ending of the world?

And the music and the echo of the music went out into the Void, and it was not void. Never since have the Ainur made any music like to this music, though it has been said that a greater still shall be made before Ilúvatar by the choirs of the Ainur and the Children of Ilúvatar after the end of days. (The Silmarillion, “Ainulindale”)

The Ainur aren't the only ones who can create something amazing...

We met Daniel Reeve, who did all the calligraphy and cartography we can see on the movies (and a lot things we never got to see). He gave us a presentation, and I can tell you, the amount of work he did for the movies is insane. He demonstrated his calligraphy skills and then it was comission time! What I had him write for me was the best thing I got from the trip. After the meeting was over it was the first and only time I called my mom lol I was so excited I needed to share it with someone, I didn't care it was almost 3am back home :P

The original draft for Bilbo's contract vs the end result. Peter Jackson wanted it to be longer and longer each time. It takes about a week to write one, if I remember correctly.

Writing on one of his paintings. You can see Bilbo's book there :O

Here he's working on my request. The open book over there was writen for the movie with parts of stories taken from the Silmarillion. It's open on the entry about Túrin Turambar, because I had told him how much I loved that story, among all of Tolkien's work, so he went and looked for that part. Not only is he super talented, he was also a really nice guy.

Since I don’t have the skills or the time to participate as much as I’d like when we get daily prompts for B2MeM, I decided to do something different. While I’ll still try to create as much fanart as I can, I figured another way to participate more often this year. I’ll share some photos of my trip to New Zealand (!!!) last December. It might be stretching the rules a bit (or a lot), but it’s related to Tolkien and photography is a form of art, right? ;-)

The wind began to blow steadily out of the West and pour the water of the distant seas on the dark heads of the hills in fine drenching rain. (Fellowship of the Ring, “Flight to the Ford”)

Edoras location. We were in the middle of a nice picnic lunch at the top of Mt Sunday when we saw those clouds in the distance moving our way. We hurried back to the bus and were able to beat the rain (just in time!).
