Names
"In the hour of birth, or on some other occasion of moment, the mother might give a name to her child, indicating some dominant feature of its nature as perceived by her, or some foresight of its special fate."

I will give you a name

'I will give you a name,' he said to it, 'and I shall call you Sting.'"

"But there was a maiden named Nellas, who lived in the woods; and at Melian's bidding she would follow Túrin if he strayed in the forest, and often she met him there, as it were by chance. From Nellas Túrin learned much concerning the ways and the wild things of Doriath, and she taught him to speak the Sindarin tongue after the manner of the ancient realm, older, and more courteous, and richer in beautiful words. Thus for a little while his mood was lightened, until he fell again under shadow, and that friendship passed like a morning of spring. For Nellas did not go to Menegroth, and was unwilling ever to walk under roofs of stone; so that as Túrin's boyhood passed and he turned his thoughts to the deeds of men, he saw her less and less often, and at last called for her no more."

Escape

“They will think we had a very strong magic to pass through all those locked doors and disappear.”

Looking for an adventure

"I remember a young hobbit who was always running off in search of Elves, in the woods. He'd stay out late, come home, after dark, trailing mud and twigs and fireflies. A young hobbit who would've liked nothing better than to find out what was beyond the borders of the Shire. "

"Thorin was too wretched to be angry any longer at his misfortunes, and was even beginning to think of telling the king all about his treasure and his quest (which shows how low-spirited he had become), when he heard Bilbo's little voice at his keyhole."

Wilderland Passport StampChallenge: The act of kindness or hospitability usually comes from a generous heart. Write a story or poem, or create a piece of art where your character displays this virtue.

I thought of Elrond when I read the challenge yet I knew when I started that I was drawing Rosie Cotton. Funny how those things happen. But it fits the challenge, I think: there's something very kind about her that shows whenever she speaks. Besides, is there another female in Middle Earth that would be so understanding if their husband had with someone else the kind of bond Sam had with Frodo?
